Tim Hughes served as the Senior Trade Advisor for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) from 2019 through 2023. He moved to this position after serving three years as KDA’s Deputy Executive Director for the Office of Marketing and immediately before that the Director of Biofuels for the Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet. Prior to these roles he served as the Senior Policy Analyst of the Governor’s Office of Agricultural Policy where he also held various other roles in agricultural development since 2004. Tim and his wife Lori own TLC Farms in Simpson County. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he also served as their farm manager in 2002 and 2003. Tim has served as the state chairman of two young farmer groups and has played leadership roles in various national farm organizations. Tim and Lori now reside in Frankfort, KY where they are active members of Buck Run Baptist Church.
Tim & Lori have visited over 80 countries where they’ve made new friends, experienced the local cultures, and have grown in their understanding of our global neighborhood. Their travels have included mission activities such as construction, teaching leadership, medical outreach, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Professional travels have included agricultural promotion, policy dialogue, and bioenergy development.
Tim has served as a passionate spokesperson for Kentucky agriculture from his youth involvement in 4-H and FFA to his most recent position at KDA. He strives to engage his audiences in understanding today’s sophistication of agricultural production, the socio-economic importance of commercial farming, and direct impact this industry has on their quality of life,
Accentuating Stewardship was founded in 2024 as a prologue to a distinguished career in production agriculture, public service, and a passion for action. American agriculture has a rich history of providing the food, feed, fiber, and fuel to grow our economy and to satisfy the needs of a burgeoning world. It’s been a true blessing to visit over 80 countries and witness firsthand the beauty of God’s creation from many vantage points and to see the importance of agriculture in every landscape. I look forward to a continued role in advocating on behalf of these unheralded stewards and striving to further accentuate our role in addressing the challenges of tomorrow.
